The Mary Sano Studio of Duncan Dancing presents the twenty-third annual Dionysian Festival, celebrating the 143rd anniversary of Isadora Duncan’s birth. Widely considered the mother of modern dance, Isadora was born in San Francisco on May 26, 1877.
Mary Sano and Adrienne Ramm, two of the world’s foremost interpreters of Duncan choreography, will perform original Duncan works to the music of Chopin and Gluck followed by a short discussion on Duncan dance with the audience.
The second half of the program will feature pieces from award winning Los Angeles based composer/pianist Merrill Collins’ new album, Every Man, Woman and Child: Meditation, with dance by Mary Sano. Tony Sano Chapman, a longtime fixture at the festival, will return to perform his original music.
